The Shanling EH2 R2R DAC Headphone Amplifier follows the same concept of basic Hi-Fi DAC, with no screens or complicated systems.
Fitted into a similarly shaped aluminum body, just at twice the depth, still ideally formed for your desk space. And featuring the same tone controls for Bass and Treble adjustments right on the front of the device.

Shanling EH2 provides a patented 24-bit R2R DAC that decodes 1 bit at a time and provides high-resolution audio with low distortion. This DAC is equipped with 192 high-precision 0.1% resistors to deliver immersive sound quality matching the performance of standard Delta-Sigma DAC designs.
Shanling EH2 houses a headphone amplifier featuring an OPA1612 chip that provides low noise and high-precision audio reproduction.
It houses BD139 and BD140, a transistor amplifier that drives low-impedance headphones or speakers with higher power.
This configuration ensures signal accuracy and handles power output, perfect for audio or high-power DACs.
Shanling EH2 offers 6.35mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs to pair with various devices. It can drive a wide range of headphones, from full-sized planar models to in-ear monitors. It offers two gain levels – high and low while delivering up to 399mW @ 32Ω for single-ended output and 1015mW @ 32Ω for balanced output.
Shanling EH2 features a carefully selected array of capacitors to optimise performance.
Four 100 μF/25V Panasonic capacitors fine-tune the low-pass filter, while a combination of two 220 μF/25V Silmic II and two 225 μF/25V Panasonic capacitors supports the transistors.
A pair of 1000 μF/25V Panasonic capacitors stabilises the power supply. The DAC and power supply feature a refined capacitor arrangement for enhanced performance.
Two 220 μF/25V Silmic II capacitors complement the R2R array, while four 100 μF/25V, two 225 μF/25V Panasonic and two 1000 μF/25V Panasonic capacitors power the DAC module effectively.
Shanling EH2 supports Non-Oversampling (NOS) and Oversampling (OS) modes, allowing flexibility in audio playback.
In NOS mode, the system adheres to the R2R design philosophy for pure audio reproduction. Alternatively, OS mode upsamples signals to 352.8 kHz for enhanced detail and precision.
This dual-mode capability ensures compatibility with various audio preferences and source materials. In the NOS Mode, the audio is softer and more mellow for truly natural music reproduction.
The OS Mode boosts resolution and dynamics for more focused listening and deeper insight into the music. A vibrant LED light ring around the volume controls visually displays the current sampling rate or DSD format, confirming proper Hi-Res audio processing. Shanling EH2 features a high-performance 3rd Generation XMOS XU316 USB input chipset to ensure seamless compatibility with major operating systems and smooth playback of high-resolution 768kHz and native DSD512 audio files.
A UAC1.0 mode expands connectivity options to include older devices and gaming systems. It comes with a DC 12V power adapter for an external power input to ensure a stable and clean power supply.
Shanling EH2 is equipped with various inputs of SPDIF coaxial, optical input and USB input to pair with DACs, Hi-Fi receivers, or active speakers.
It also features 4.4mm and RCA line-out and pre-amp to connect with headphone amplifiers or active speakers and easily switch between pre-amplifier and line-out functions.
EH2 can be paired with Bluetooth by utilising the Qualcomm QCC5125 chip, which supports LDAC, aptX Low Latency, aptX, AAC, and SBC for high-quality audio.
